Blog EntryPosting by email - yay! it works!Apr 13, '08 11:07 AM
for everyone
Just thought I'd give it a go, as I'd read the staff blog post about it and yes, it works brilliantly, it even keeps the font size/colour settings! I set my default to Draft, so it doesn't get published for the whole world to see before I'm ready - it just creates a draft post which I can then go in and edit, as I'm doing now. So just the stuff below here is what was included in my original email post. (One benefit of using this option is that you have some kind of backup of your post in your email, in case anything goes wrong with Multiply.) This is the bit I posted by email:

Well, let's see how well this works.
large pink normal

That was in Arial.

This is in Courier.

Okay, if even Ela doesn't understand me (for those who don't read Hebrew, that's the gist of the reply above) then I must be really talking Chinese. (Which is pretty impressive as I don't actually know Chinese.)

What I'm talking about is the option that Multiply gives of posting by email - this means you can post a blog even if you're not logged onto the website. You have to sign up for a pin number, and you are then allocated an email address which you use for this purpose, so for example if you choose the pin number 1111, you will then be able to send an email to something like 1111@multiply.com and it will get posted automatically as a blog on your Multiply site.

The staff post highlighted some benefits of this - for example if you're organising photos on your computer, you can select a bunch of photos, right-click them and then choose Send To and email them to your Multiply site.

I just thought I'd give it a go, and was pleased to discover how well it worked. But then that's me, unlike those who'd rather keep it simple, I like discovering new toys to play with here.

Does this qualify me as an honorary geek?
