Shalom! Welcome! Come on in, make yourself at home, have a browse. I'd be interested to hear your comments. And please do come again!

You probably already know that whatever you post "for Everyone" can be read by people not registered with Multiply, so when Multiply tells you your post has been viewed by x number of people and shows you their headshots, this doesn't include non-Multiplyers.

But what you may not be aware of is that there may be fellow Multiplyers who are not included in these stats, and this can be relevant even to postings with more limited access, e.g. for Contacts only.

If your friend John, who is registered as your Contact, has set it up so that he gets email alerts for your postings, and then reads your posting on the email without being logged onto Multiply at the time, then this won't register as a viewing of your posting. (If he is logged onto the website when opening the email, then it will register.)

Which is encouraging for those of us who may sometimes feel as though we're speaking into a rather empty, echoey room... though of course just because someone has opened your posting, this doesn't necessarily mean they've actually read it. Big Brother hasn't got that far yet!

Which is why it is so much more encouraging when people leave comments on what they've read. Even if they disagree with you, at least you know they've read it.

how very useful to have a Contact who requests e-mail alerts !!
we must thank RR for this odd discovery
still, i suspect most of us avoid the e-mail alerts---

I don't know how many, but some of us do like the email alerts - I find them very helpful as it's so much easier to scroll through the emails and see what's of interest to me. And at least one person I know has told me he reads everything I post on his Blackberry.

By the way, who or what is RR?

This is such a good post...I love this post and I'm glad you posted it....Because everything you said is 100% truth....If they get the RSS feed to your blog they can just read your blogs via email without ever signing in to multi

Yup! I was very encouraged to discover that - it means so many more people read my stuff.

Welcome to this corner of Cyberspace. It takes a little while to get used to it...

Click on Settings at the top right hand of your screen and then click E-mail Alerts. Then just tick the boxes for what you want to get emails for, and leave empty the boxes for what you don't want.

Well, that's strange, I don't understand what's going on there. But they have a good customer support here, you could ask them - click on Contact Us at the bottom of your Multiply screen, then choose the second option: contact our customer service team. Write and tell them what's going on, and give it time - they do answer. Or you can try the user support group - the first option - where multipliers help one another.
